ACMs Ain't Whistlin' Dixie (Chicks)
Sure they swept the Grammy Awards, but apparently the Dixie Chicks don't fly with the Academy of Country Music.
Nominations were announced Monday for the annual ACM Awards and there was nary a Chick to be found despite the Texas trio's five Grammys for Taking the Long Way. The Chicks have won 10 ACMs in their career, including Entertainer of the Year in 2000, but have been shunned by the Nashville establishment since their President Bush-bashing comments in 2003.
While the Academy of Country Music isn't ready to make nice with the Chicks, the organization made sure the usual Nasville-pleasing subjects were accounted for, led by George Straight, Brooks & Dunn and Rascal Flatts. Courtesy of E! Online Julie Keller
Now what does this tell me? Do you think people really understand what is going on here? I doubt it myself. Bottom line is this, people make choices in their lives. Then you have to stand up and take responsibility for those actions. I guess in a way they have accepted responsibility for it. They even sing about what a good idea it was. Treasonous perhaps, but it also shows the reality of the awards shows. This is again just the elitist celebrities patting themselves on the back with trophies.
Do I agree with what a musician or singer says? Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. But, they are paid to entertain me. They are different than trained monkeys or circus clowns in some respects. Would you gain your world view or philosophical beliefs from a monkey? The choice is yours to make, so pass the remote so I can change the channel from ‘Paris Hilton MTV stupifest’ to the OFF channel. It is the only thing intelligent to watch on there. IMHO
NRA Gets Reimbursed Court Costs From City Attorney in New Orleans
Monday, March 05, 2007
Fairfax, VA-Attorneys for the National Rifle Association of America received a check from New Orleans City Attorney Joseph Vincent DiRosa, Jr. who was ordered to pay partial legal fees and costs to NRA's attorneys for expenses incurred. Mr. DiRosa's delaying tactics were called "wholly unprofessional" by Federal District Court Judge Carl Barbier.
While the NRA is grateful for this small payment, they remain steadfast in the belief that the City of New Orleans continues to be in contempt of court and must make every effort possible to return the wrongfully and illegally confiscated firearms to their rightful owners.
Every ruling thus far by the courts has reinforced the fact that the Second Amendment applies to all law-abiding Americans, including law-abiding residents of the City of New Orleans.
This is in direct contradiction to the absurd claims made by the Nagin Administration that the Second Amendment somehow did not apply in New Orleans.
Sigmund Freud, the father of modern psychoanalysis, stated the following: "A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity."
What do you think Mayor Nagin?
"Big Brother is here -- and he is retarded!" >:)
