A New Day Dawns

I often wonder, exactly how far into a corner you can back an animal into a corner, before the fight or flight instinct kicks in. I guess it really depends on the type of animal. Some, like a Raccoon for instance, is a terror to the aggressor when backed into a corner. Others, like a Rabbit only pee themselves in terror at the approach of the aggressor.

I guess we as humans have to find our 'totem animal' and know how far we are willing to back up. I do not know of any TMC members who are Rabbits, at least from the observations of the feedback from the posts. I think most are like mild carnivorous creatures, content to keep their eyes open and quietly watch for the approach of danger. A select few are like the wolves, who though never seen, stalk the enemy quietly from beyond the tree line. Waiting to alert the other wildlife or for a first line of defense till the rest arrive to support them in the cause. The last of us are the antagonizers, like bears who steal the picnic baskets or birds who poo on the freshly waxed cars. Keeping them focused on a mild irritation to keep them aware that we are many.

What brings this to my mind is the level of stupidity that the ‘powers that be’ seem to display. Yet, we are supposed to accept the idea that they know best how to run things.

Why is the Welfare office right next door to the Parole and Probation office?

I sympathize with the needs of children whose parents are stupid and violate the law. But, by the same token, stupidity gets you a check from the government. It is very disheartening to be out during peak work hours and watch people sitting around doing nothing. Granted they do not have the finest car, if any car at all, but everybody is capable of something.

It may seem cold at first but, really think about this and be honest with yourself. For this scenario, consider the voice activated technology in the world today, as well as the way technical support or customer service was handled by the last company you called. Knowing about databases and that all of the answers are computer driven in front of the person on the phone.

Now ask yourself this: ‘Would you rather pay a few dollars more on the price of a product or just have the system adjusted so that disabled Americans could earn some money answering your calls?’

Could a girl with no legs do a better job answering your call than ‘Hadji’? Would she be willing to make money doing that? A call center operator makes $9-17 an hour at a 40 hr week for $12 with 32% taxes taken out that would give her $1,860. Now even if we figure in some crazy $500 a month extra expense for retirement or medical insurance or maybe my math is really bad, that leaves her with $1,360. SSI full disability is only $600 a month. Social Security Disability max is $1,400 a month.

Think about it.

I was curious

How many of us really want to have to be the one to stand up for what is right? I certainly did not ever want to have to be the one pointing out what was going on around me. I wanted to sit in blissful ignorance just like most others live their lives. It does comfort me to find so many like minded folks around though. We may never change one thing in our lives. But, at least the legacy we leave will be one of trying to keep things from changing for the worse in our lifetime.

I. Apparently there are more ‘freedom fighter’s’ up in North Louisiana. Maybe this could help the Brown’s out in New Hampshire.

The Internal Revenue Service has lost a lawyer's challenge in front of a jury to prove a constitutional foundation for the nation's income tax, and the victorious attorney now is setting his sights higher.

"I think now people are beginning to realize that this has got to be the largest fraud, backed up by intimidation and extortion and by the sheer force of taking peoples property and hard-earned money without any lawful authorization whatsoever," lawyer Tom Cryer told WND just days after a jury in Louisiana acquitted him of two criminal tax counts.

He said the free exchange of labor for compensation has been upheld as a right by the Supreme Court, but that doesn't necessarily make the compensation income.

If ever such an argument were to be presented widely, Cryer said, the income to the federal government would plummet. But not to worry, he said, the expenses could be reduced equally by eliminating programs, departments and agencies that also have no foundation in the Constitution.

For example, he said, the Constitution does not empower the federal government to regulate education, or employment, and agriculture, yet it does so.

He warned without a restoration of constitutional basics, the nation is lost.

"Read your Constitution and you will see that the federal role does not include ANY authority to regulate or tax any citizen directly and that WE expressly reserved the right to rule and govern ourselves as States, not as mere political subdivisions," his website says.

"The Constitution does not allow the government to run your lives, but the money it is stealing from millions of Americans is the fuel for its over-reaching and kibitzing. Take the money back and we and our states and communities can again be free," he said.

The fight is over "our FREEDOM from rule by a DISTANT RULER, just as we fought to free ourselves of a distant England over 200 years ago," he said.

Just in case you aren’t following it yourself, there was ‘provoking’ gun fire in NH on Saturday. But, the Brown’s did not fall into the trap of firing back at nothing but the ‘sounds’ of gunfire.

II. In a time where New Orleans city officials continue to breaking the law refusing to return people's confiscated guns, instead letting them rust in a semi trailer, a story like this at least returns a bit of a smile to one's face.

"The number of permits issued to carry concealed weapons is running twice as high as it was before Katrina - this, in a city with only about half its pre-storm population of around 450,000. Attendance at firearms classes and hours logged at shooting ranges also are up, according to the gun industry."

One piece of spin-via-omission that we see all the time though:
"While many are buying guns for protection, only two defensive killings of criminals by civilians took place in New Orleans in 2006, according to police. No charges were filed against the shooters."

A round need not be fired and a criminal's career terminated to count as a defensive firearm use. We don't really know the number of encounters where a gun is never fired and no one is injured, but the estimations are always pretty high. There surely were more than 2 cases where the mere sight of the firearm sent the criminal running in the opposite direction.

You should report these encounters, but many do not. But to me they are perfectly valid defensive firearm uses!
