NEWS TODAY
A federal grand jury has indicted three Toledo area men for terrorist activities. Prosecutors say the three conspired to wage "jihad," or a "holy war" against the United States and coalition forces in the Middle East. The indictment was unsealed Monday. The indictment alleges that Mohammad Zaki Amawi, Marwan Othman El-Hindi, and Wassim Mazloum, all living in the Toledo area, conspired to recruit and train others for a violent jihad against United States forces and US allies in Iraq. The indictment also alleges that they engaged in fundraising for the terrorist operations, collected the equipment needed, and traveled together to a local indoor shooting range for target practice.

THE PORT DEAL
The pressure continues to be put on the White House to reverse its decision to allow a United Arab Emirates-based company to take over port security at six major container ports in the United States. Republican lawmakers are lining up against the deal. And now we've heard from two Republican governors about it, New York Gov. George Pataki and Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich.

The Australian government issued a travel advisory over the weekend warning citizens to be cautious in the United Arab Emirates. Meanwhile, the United States is busy turning over its ports to the nation. Cal Thomas has more.

It is an absolute mystery why the Bush administration chose to allow an Arab-owned company to take over the London-based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co., which runs the ports in New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, New Orleans, Miami and Philadelphia. The name of the company is Dubai Ports World. It is owned by the United Arab Emirates, home of one of the 9/11 hijackers.

LOTTO NEWS
There was much news over the weekend about a huge lottery winning in Nebraska. It all seems innocuous enough .. someone walks into a convenience store in Nebraska and plunks down a few bucks and walks away with about $365 million.

The person or the people who won this lottery jackpot will have their lives made miserable by this newfound wealth. They do not have the mindset -- the mental programming -- to cope with wealth. It is a fact that you get comfortable at a certain level. You have to gradually change it or you will work yourself crazy to get to your comfort level. So, a poor lottery winner is poor again soon. And Donald Trump bounces back from losing HALF every new woman he marries. Back to their comfort levels.

Neal’s View
“I love the lottery! For decades politicians, Democrats and Republicans alike, have been working to lift the tax burden off the poor and the non-achievers. The lottery puts that burden right back there. The lottery truly is a tax on stupidity. Will we tax it out of existence? No way. But at least it's a start.”

Bryant Gumbel is getting a little of his own medicine after complaining that the Olympics were too white. A civil rights group says it takes offense. As the saying goes...what comes around, goes around!

TURIN, Italy Feb 18, 2006 — Shani Davis knew what he was doing. Davis became the first black to win an individual gold medal in Winter Olympic history Saturday, capturing the men's 1,000-meter speedskating race. "I'm one of a kind," Davis said, fully aware of how much he stands out in the mostly all-white sport.
So There! Bryant GUMBALL!!

Running Late This Week

AMEN ANN
The "offense to Islam" ruse is merely an excuse for Muslims to revert to their default mode: rioting and setting things on fire. These people have a serious anger management problem. So it's not exactly a scoop that Muslims are engaging in violence. A front-page story would be "Offended Muslims Remain Calm." With a few exceptions, the media won't show the cartoons that incited mass violence around the globe (cartoons available at www.anncoulter.com). And yet, week after week, American patriots endure "The Boondocks" without complaint. Where's the justice here?

Gerardo Sandoval [San Francisco Board of Supervisors] made this statement on 'Hannity and Colmes'

"The United States should not have a military"

He must have repeated it 10 times, and was given plenty of opportunities to retract his comment......But instead he took these opportunities to prove what a dumbass he is. This fool is so out of touch even Alan Colmes (Liberal) was disgusted......Obviously, Hannity wanted to puke, but the best part was watching Colmes rip the moronic supervisor

IMMIGRATION
I acknowledge that it's ridiculous for a child who doesn't speak English to be expected to pass an Enlanguagengauge exam. But why should the school (and the community) foot the bill for providing the child with an exam in her own language? Why should the onus not be on the child's family to have a working knowledge of English before they get here?

From the 1890s until the 1960s, immigrants to America had to prove that they:1) had a basic proficiency in the language 2) had a job, so that they and their families would not become burdens taxpayer's 3) had a sponsor, someone who would pay their expenses should their job not work out.

If they couldn't meet those criteria, they didn't get in. That's what Ellis Island was for, to screen out the undesirables before they got onto the mainland. Our politicians threw out those requirements in the '60s, and since then we have been besotted with waves of immigrants who cannot support themselves, yet are encouraged to keep their languages and customs, and not assimilate, ensuring that they will remain wards of the state. During the same period, welfare rolls have swollen to unprecedented levels.

I'm not anti-immigrant. With my personal background, how could I be? But my immigrant ancestors came here to become American and never asked for anything from anybody. They certainly never asked the schools to provide educational materials in German, Greek, or Gaelic for their children. And they came here legally.

A YOUNGER VIEW, A 16yo girl wrote this [maybe ALL hope is not lost]
The basic timeline of all human kind is laid out like this. We start off meaning well. And then we get worse, man kind slips into some kind of funk. And then we get better, we have like this lucid period in our lives, for like, say a couple generations. Then we slip back into that little funk, and this time, we get comfortable there, thinking, "Hey, we'll get better."

But, no, we don't. We get worse. Because we have become so complacent with our lives, down and dirty as they are, that we see no real need to fix anything. In fact, we see nothing that needs to be fixed! Then we get worse still. To the point that our ancestors squirm in their graves. And then, we get so bad we wonder if we were ever good.

Why? Cause we didn't learn our lesson. We never do, it's not part of our mystique. Back during the 1500's. If a man was caught defiling a boy. That man was either killed on the spot, or beheaded.

Understand this, your life is what you make it. And if you want to go to Africa understand that you can't take any of the amendments with you. The Declaration of Independence is not a badge you wear unless you are an American. And an African American is not an American. An African American is a African individual who moved here from Africa.

If you are a black man or woman, child, boy or girl, born here in America,
you are an American. Not an African American.
If you are a Hispanic individual born in America. You are an American.
If you are an Asian individual, born in America. You are an American.

HA HA HILDABEAST
Hillary Clinton goes to a primary school in Ithaca, New York, to talk about the world. After her talk she offers question time. One little boy puts up his hand, and the Senator asks him what his name is.

'Kenneth', replied the little boy.

'And what is your question, Kenneth?'

'I have three questions:
1. Whatever happened to your medical health care plan?
2. Why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office?
3. Whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?'

Just then the bell rings for recess. Hillary Clinton informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess.

When they resume Hillary says 'OK, where were we? Oh, that's right, question time. Who has a question?'

A different little boy puts his hand up. Hillary points him out & asks him what his name is.

'My name is Larry.'

'And what is your question, Larry?'

'I have 5 questions:
1. Whatever happened to your medical health care plan?
2. Why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office?
3. Whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?
4. Why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early?
5. What happened to Kenneth?'

Observational
When a woman wears leather clothing, a man's heart beats quicker, his throat gets dry, he goes weak in the knees, and he begins to think irrationally.

Ever wonder why?

Because she smells like a new truck.

Origin of St Valentine
Valentine was a holy priest in Rome, who, with St. Marius and his family, assisted the martyrs who were being persecuted under Roman Emperor Claudius II. He was apprehended, and sent by the emperor to the prefect of Rome, who, on finding all his promises to make him renounce his faith in effectual, commended him to be beaten with clubs, and afterwards, to be beheaded, which was executed on February 14, about the year 270.

The origin of St. Valentine, and how many St. Valentines there were, remains a mystery. One theory is that he was caught marrying Christian couples and aiding any Christians who were being persecuted under Emperor Claudius in Rome [when helping them was considered a crime].

He is the patron saint of bee keepers, engaged couples, epilepsy, fainting, greetings, happy matravelersove, lovers, plague, travellers, young people. *you could make some comments about love being equivalent to keeping bees and the plague, but I wont' go there*

Pittsburg Won

This weeks News
The superbowl was far from super.
The best commercial was the ‘magic fridge’ for Bud.
MLK JRs widow died
As did Betty Friedan, whose 1963 book "The Feminine Mystique" helped inspire the modern feminist movement and who co-founded the National Organization for Women. She died on Saturday on her 85th birthday, at her home in Washington of congestive heart failure, just before 3 p.m. EST, her cousin Emily Bazelon told Reuters. [old and alone her heart quit working]

"For Betty, feminism was an aspect of humanism. And one of her sons said this morning that she demonstrated that sheer intelligence could trump lack of intelligence," Bazelon said. [I bet he has been trumped a lot. LOL]

Has anyone drawn a correlation between 1963 and 2003 to see what the divorce rate was like during those 40 yrs versus the 40 years prior to 1963? How about the number of gays and lesbians, did it rise or stay the same?

Not that I think women should be ‘kept down’, but it would seem that each of us have unique gifts and are created for specific purposes. Women are not designed the same as men. The US Army teaches that by using the ‘wide arm’ push up women can excel. And matched against an average male can usually out perform him at this task. However, by changing to a standard or even a diamond or ‘close hand’ push up, the male then demonstrates he is better built for this task.

On to the intellectual, I believe women make better Real Estate agents. Men seem to come off like a ‘used car dealer’. Men make better Mechanics, for similar yet reversed feeling by the customer. Are these things ‘right or wrong’? I do not know, but it is how we think as humans.

NOW and the feminist movement does not concede these ideals. They think we are all created the same. Well, I know I did not see everyone as an equal when picking a mate. Why?, because everyone is not created equal for everything. Some people lacked the gender to provide me with a mate. Others may have had an annoying voice [remember Janice on Friends?]. Each one of us is created with talents, usually these talents and skills are of a specific type that the attributes of a certain gender will excel in that area. Ever seen a male barrel racing champion?

SUPPORT DENMARK: WHY THE FORBIDDEN CARTOONS MATTER
BY Michelle Malkin · January 30, 2006 09:37 PM

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) - Thousands of Syrians enraged by caricatures of Islam's revered prophet torched the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Damascus on Saturday - the most violent in days of furious protests by Muslims in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
An embassy is considered sovereign territory. Considering that the Syrian government operates a police state, it is clear that this could not have happened without at least the acquiescence of the Syrian government. I believe that Syria has just created a legal basis for invasion by NATO (since both Denmark and Norway are members of NATO).

These ‘cartoons’, which M Malkin has posted on her site, do not look offensive to me. Judge for yourself, and please let me know if they are offensive to you. I mean Christians have endured Christ’s’ mother being painted in human feces without burning any buildings down. Also, these ‘offensive’ drawings were published in October of last year. So, why are the protests going on now? And where did they get the Danish Flags? Now, they are calling for ‘cartoon’ submissions of the holocaust to print in Islamic papers. Well, that sure seems like a peaceful response. And how is the holocaust related to Denmark or any prophet type guy?

New Orleans 'risks extinction'
In the chaos that followed the worst natural disaster in American history, a forensic investigation has been taking place to find out what went wrong and why.

I’m sure with some of our elected officials, and Governor BLANKedOut at the helm, the rest of our cities will follow. I just wanted to say thanks Rep Jefferson for misusing the National Guard, thanks Mayor Nagin for acting like an ass, thanks, Gov for inviting the CHIPs over to kick the crap out of old ladies. These clowns still have not answered for the Gestapo tactics during the storm.

V for Vendetta looks VERY interesting. I may have to take a trip to the theatre.

"Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American Flag... [W]e have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." - Theodore Roosevelt
